Jerusalem Pizza at 230 Raritan Ave. in Highland Park has been closed down due to the blaze.
At approximately 11:14 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Highland Park Police Department received a 911 call about a fire.
Officers arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke and a working structure fire. Officers were able to successfully evacuate all residents from the location, although one was hospitalized for smoke inhalation, police said.
Among those called to the scene were the Middlesex County Office of the Fire Marshall, East Brunswick Fire Department, North Stelton Department, New Brunswick Fire Department, Edison Fire Department, South Plainfield Fire Department, Middlesex Borough Fire Department, and North Brunswick Fire.
There were no injuries to Police Officers or Firefighters.
Highland Park’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) was on the scene to assist the displaced tenants.
The Middlesex County Fire Marshal’s office, which is responsible for investigating the cause of the fire in partnership with the Highland Park Police Department, stated that the investigation is not yet complete, but there does not appear to be anything suspicious about the origin of the fire.
